Help with Menu link in DVD Architect

Postby muhds » Tue Apr 01, 2014 2:49 pm

Hello,

I am currently facing an issue with burning a bluray disc out of DVD Architect.

Videos are rendered in .avc + .ac3
Menu structure is as follows:
* Intro Video - 10 sec
* Menu Page
* 2 clips (text only)
* Play Event
* Event Highlights

When I click preview menu/bluray, all the links work flawlessly. I click "make bluray disc," and the disc is complete, I pop it into the sony bluray player, everything works, except that one of the links does not work.

The "Play Event" link does not work - i.e. I can click on it, however, nothing happens, does not even give me a blank screen or even an error of sort.

Any help with this matter is greatly appreciate.

Hi, muhds. Welcome to Muvipix!

The first question I always ask in a situation like this is if the BluRay plays and functions in your computer -- particularly this buggy link.

If so, it's most likely a compatibility issue with your BluRay disc player. Home-burned discs are never 100% compatible with all disc players.

However, if that is the case, there are ways to hedge your bets.

Thank you for the welcome Steve.

Yes, the bluray plays in my computer if I open it from the stream folder, one video at a time. As vlc has a hard time playing blurays.

My bluray works when played in my sony bluray player, however, one link which is the main event on the menu page does not seem to work, even if I click on it. Meanwhile, the link below that, which is a highlights link, actually works.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

VLC Player should be able to play your disc, with its navigation, if you select the Open Disc option.

If not, I suppose you could give Windows Media Player (yech) a try.

But you do have to determine if the problem with that link is unique to your disc player or if it's a bug in the disc's data. Most likely it's the former, if the navigation works just fine when you preview the disc in DVD Architect.

It virtually never happens that the navigation works when you preview the BluRay in DVD Architect but doesn't work when you output the finished disc.

I tried playing the same Bluray disc in a PS3, and am still not able to click one of the links, although the link can be underlined, however, upon clicking it, it does not do anything.

I thought that anything displayed and working correctly in the preview should translate to the end product when placed on a bluray disc, however, 2 out of 3 videos play.

I must mention, the main video and or highlights video was a recorded in PAL format, however, I rendered it in 29.97fps NTSC format. Would that make a difference? I'm guessing not, since one of the links (the video highlights) actually plays, however, the main event is not.

Your insight is appreciated to resolving this in DVDA.

Thanks

None of those things will make a difference. If the navigation works when you preview the BluRay in DVD Architect, it will work when you output the video files.

So, again, you'll need to test the disc on your computer! That will tell us if there is a bug in the navigation.

BTW, which version DVD Architect are you using? Pro or Studio? Version 4.5, 5 or 6? DVD Arch Pro 6 does have some known bugs, and a lot of people are recommending using Pro 5 instead.

I tried re-rendering the file whose link was not playing, and voila, it worked.

I think .avc at 29.97fps was the issue. Since the video was shot at 24fps pal, I re-rendered it with those settings, and it works brilliantly.

Thank you for your quick response!
