Trouble inserting text into video?

I'm very new to PE 9, coming from Roxio. I have been attempting to insert text into various video clips using the titling tool. While it seems to work, when I try playing it back in the the monitor the video doesn't match the audio and is somewhat choppy. Is this the incorrect manner of inserting text into video clips? Thanks for any and all help.

It would be helpful, if you could give us some more information on your video files and your computer specifications. What format are your video files - are they standard or high definition and what kind of camcorder did you use to record them? Also, how did you import them into the program?

Also, you might just need to render the clips after creating the title.
If there is a red line about the clips press the Enter key to render the video, that should solve the choppiness problem.

I'm using a Dell Studio Hybrid 140G, Intel (R) core (TM) 2 Duo, 4.00 GB RAM on Window Vista.
Several different video cameras were used since the clips cam from several friends, but most of them were recorded on a Sony Handycam DCR-SR42 which I believe is just a standard digital, not high-definition.
