Where to Install Gradient Wipes

Postby windsong » Sat Sep 03, 2011 9:33 pm

Hello. I just joined muvipix :)

I downloaded the free Gradient Wipes file to work with Premiere Elements 9 - but where do I put the tif files? They wipes don't appear to automatically show in the program.

Many thanks.

Greetings and welcome to the forum.

The gradient wipe images can go in "My Pictures" or wherever you choose. They aren't transitions by themselves. You pick which image you want to use when you apply the Gradient Wipe transition to clips on the timeline. There's a button that says "Select Image." After clicking that button you navigate to wherever you saved the gradient wipe images you downloaded.

Welcome!

RJ is absolutely correct. Extract the gradient wipe images from the file(s) you downloaded and save them in a location of your choice. I recommend making a separate folder for this purpose and not mix them with other images. When you apply the gradient wipe transition, the "Select Image" button will allow you to go to the folder where you saved the images. Once set, the folder location will be remembered.

There are two gradient wipe files available for download. One is in the free downloads section (search the products with the keyword "gradient" to find it). The other is in the gallery: http://muvipix.com/cpg/albums/userpics/ ... tWipes.zip

Welcome to Muvipix windsong! :meet: Glad to have you on board.

I moved your thread to the Premiere Elements 9 forum where it's more likely to also be helpful to others with the same question.

Thank you very much, everyone.

I am completely new to PE9 - just bought it last week, so I am a bit lost at the moment. I'm not sure where the 'select image' option is but I am sure I will find it as I progress. In the meantime, I downloaded the gradient files and they are now in a special folder waiting for me to learn the basics.

I have two movies I HAVE to get done in the next week and I would love to do them in PE9 but I don't think I can get up to speed fast enough. I will have to do them in iMovie, I think, but the videos I have to do for the middle of November will, I hope, be done in PE9. That should give me enough time to learn.

Welcome Windsong to Muvipix! There are very good tutorials on this website. Some tutorials were made using prior versions but the editing tips are useful for your version too. :wcm:
