Chapter overflow prel9

Postby andylambert » Mon Aug 15, 2011 10:53 am

Dear All,

Bought prel9. Tried to burn my first Bluray disc.

Got stuck at 99% and message 'chapter overflow'.

Scoured web, got rid off all my stills, just leaving me with .m2ts files in the project.

Tried to burn again and same message. Some pages mentioned conflict with anydvd product, but I dont have any.

PE9.01 (latest update installed yesterday), Win 7 prof, 4gb ram, 600gb hd space free.

Any clues anyone?

Try a different Menu Andy, see if that helps.
Otherwise check the end of your video (the last 5% or so) for blank spaces.
How long is the video?

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

That is a very long video Andy, might want to consider making that two projects instead of one.

Does your project have a menu?

Hi Chuck,

The Bluray in question is our families recent Thailand holiday. Splitting into 2 did not occur to me or make much sense.

I would have thought it should fit, it is 21Gb and should fit on a single layer BD-R (which has 23.3 Gb capacity).

The 'menu' is one of the PrE9 holiday templates with the palm tree and beach. First screen has 'play movie' and 'scene selection' Next 4 screens have 10 scenes in total.

What model of camcorder is your video coming from, Andy?

And, when you started your Premiere Elements project, which settings did you select for your project?

Are you working on your main (C) drive or editing to a second or external drive?

Have you ensured your drive is free of tmp files and that it is freshly defragmented?

Finally, note that one possible issue is that, if you're running the 64-bit version of Windows 7, it's possible this 32-bit program is having trouble interfacing with your BluRay burner's 64-bit driver. Are you running a 64-bit operating system?

Hi Steve,

(Andy from London, England here). Was reading your prel9 book for help in this, my first step was stripping out all stills (page 205 in your book) but it did not help.

Have been using prel8 for some time to DVD but this is a first ie. to BD-R.

Using Panasonic HD SDC10 camcorder. For project I chose PAL H264 1440x1080i Dolby.

Did a defrag and had 620Gb free.

I am running Win7 64 bit (I did try the same files in Powerdirector 9 for 64 bit systems and got error E1040016).

Re: 32 bit issues, is there a workaround talking to my LG supermultiblue bluray burner?

I am signing off now, to go to bed and get up bright and surly to buy some new BD-R's.
Will catch you tomorrow.

Nighty night Steve.

PS Steve,

Tried saving file as FLV to hard disc and that worked OK.

Mind the bugs dont bite.

Try also using Share/Disc/DVD but choose the option to Burn to Folder and see if that succeeds. Just as an experiment.

It will help us isolate if the issue is merely a problem interfacing with the disc drive.

Meantime, I couldn't find any information on that camcorder online. Are you sure you've got the right model number?

Hi Andy. Found the following comment on one of the Adobe PrEl forums:-

"In PRE9 (or maybe PRE8) the number of chapters allowed in PRE was reduced to twenty-five."

Re your BD coasters. I recommend buying a BD-RE (re-writable) That way you can save money by not wasting BD discs.

Hi Guys,

Steve: Panasonic Camcorder is HDC-SD10.
Am burning to a DVD 'folder' now, but in prev post said that I was able to burn an FLV successfully to a folder. Does that indicate anything

John: Only have 10 chapters.
Have bought an BD-RE, that is next step, but does any of info above help?

Hi Andy, I think that the limitation might be twenty five scenes in total and it looks like you have forty.

Hi Guys,

I 'asked' prel9 to burn my project to DVD 8.5Gb folder.

It then asked me to go to adobe.com with reference number that was about 32 digits long. It returned me an 8 digit activation code. I entered that and asked to burn, and got a transcoder error.

Tried again and it looks like it is working, but will keep you posted.

Hi John,

I think I only have 10 chapters. There are 4 screens, stuff like, Bangkok, Elephant day, Tiger Kingdom, then on next screen Phuket etc. giving me 10 in all. How did you arrive at 40?

Sorry Andy. Looks like I may have misread and so misunderstood. :???: I thought that you had four sub-menu screens with ten menu items on each.
