Gradient wipe

Specific to Premiere Elements Version 9.

Gradient wipe

Postby AllieB » Fri May 13, 2011 8:55 am

I am using PRE9 with all updates in the Dutch version. One would expect that there shouln´t be a difference between the USA-versioen and the Dutch version but I have a problem.

When I use the gradient wipe transitions can one, according to the some tutorials, after chosing an image use a softeness glider. In my Dutch version there is no such a thing. I made a screenshot from the relevant part of my screen.

Do I have some settings wrong or didn´t I installed something in the past. It is the first time I use this tool so I don´t know if it was present earlier.

Can someone help me out because I need this now.

Thanks a lot,

AllieB

When you apply the gradient wipe transition a panel will pop up and ask to choose a gradient from your hard drive. After you select the jpg file gradient, the panel will have a slider to adjust the softness.

If yours doesn't work this way an option would be to make your gradient jpg file softer in photoshop before using.

Thanks for helping so far.

I downloaded the free stuff also that part would be o.k.

When, as you can see in my earlier screenshot, chose gradient wipe one can indeed choose a file but than no slider pops up. Typing this I remember that the one I placed in the transition came from a psd-file. Perhaps makes that the difference. I will test and report back.

Again thanks for your help,

Allieb.

Could someone with PrE9 test out the gradient wipe transition? There should have been a slider on that panel regardless of whether you took the default gradient or selected your own. Could this be another PrE 9 bug?

I seem to have it on both - default and custom:

Chuck and Dave, thanks for checking.

Here are a few things to try.

1) Try holding down the shift key as you start up Premiere Elements. The plugins are cached to speed up startup. Holding shift during startup forces the plugin cache to be cleared and the plugins will reinitialize.

2) Try recreating the preferences file. Press and hold ctrl and shift immediately upon starting Premiere Elements should recreate the preferences file. Timing is a little fussy.

3) Try using gradient wipe in a new project. Sometimes the project file gets corrupted and causes bizarre problems.

I am very sorry due to my lack of fluent English I looked after the wrong transition. In Dutch you should chose "Sluiter met verloop" (Shuttle with transition). In that case it works as described in the manual.

I apologize for the confusion I made.

Thanks to everybody,
