mouse problem in PE 9

Specific to Premiere Elements Version 9.

mouse problem in PE 9

Postby Rene » Tue Apr 12, 2011 2:14 pm

Hi,

I've found someone else mentioning this problem on this site, but as far as I know it wasn't answered.

I recently installed Premiere Elements 9 (including update 9.01), but in most of the dialogue windows (or popups), the mouse does not work at all. So this makes this version rather useless to me. Everything works fine in version 8 that I still have installed as well. Elements 9 is the only software that has this problem, so I am not keen on having to change any Windows settings. It seems to me that this is a bug.

I use Windows 7, 64bit version; generic wireless mouse driver.

If anyone has had the same problem and found a cure, please let me know. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Rene,
Welcome to Muvipix :wcm:

I don't know of a solution for your problem, sorry.
I'm sure someone will drop in that has some answers for you before long.

Have you tried connecting a wired mouse just to see if that makes a difference?
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

There is certainly nothing in the programming of Premiere Elements that would contradict your mouse, Rene. So it's not likely that a bug in the program could be at work here.

The one issue is that you're using a 64-bit operating system, and occasionally those 64-bit drivers won't interface well with 32-bit programs.

What brand and model of mouse is it? And have you tried installing the newest driver from the manufacturer's web site rather than letting Windows install the generic driver?

Have you tried the most up to date version of the actual driver from the manufacturer (instead of the generic)? I know - if I don't have to install I avoid it too, but it might be worth trying in this case.

Edit: Ah, Steve beat me by a nose. :)

BTW, welcome to Muvipix! :wel2:

:meet:
Sometimes even rolling back to an older version of driver can work.
Make a System Restore point first.
