context menu for Pitch shifter Audio presets is not there

Postby beekalmer » Fri Mar 04, 2011 12:05 pm

I have search this forum and the the web and have found nothing on this topic. I have Premeire Elements 9 installed, licensed copies on two separate machines. One Vista, One Windows 7. In the Muvipix Guide to Cool tricks there is a section regarding the PitchShifter and its Audio presets. The screen shot in the properties window indicates a context menu for the Pitchshifter presets. I do do not have that menu. All I have is the manual settings. I have attached a screenshot of my properties window.
Any guidance on this? Thanks in advance. MaryAnne

Unfortunately, this looks like yet another feature removed from version 9.

I checked version 7, its there, version 9 its gone. (I would really like to be wrong about this, maybe someone else can confirm as well)

What?! This is ridiculous! (And a bit embarrassing.)

I can understand them dropping features that don't work (like Background Rendering) -- but what's the strategy for dropping features that do!

The effect is very difficult to use without the presets. Very easy to use with them!

In fact, it looks like Adobe, for reasons I sure can't figure, removed the presets from all of the audio effects.

Oh shucks! I was afraid of that. Thanks for your quick reply. I guess I can stop wasting time looking for something that isn't there. Now, does anyone have a suggestion on a worthy plug in to take the replace of those types of effects?

Thanks,

MaryAnne

By the way I bought 2 of your books Steve, the one for Premiere Elements 9 and the Cool tricks edition. I hate to admit this but I love to read software guides. To me they are real page turners. It saves me so much time when I want to learn a new piece of software. Very helpful. I plan to purchase a memebership plan as well. Thanks!

You are a gentleman and a scholar, beekalmer. (Or maybe a lady and scholar -- but either way, a very wise and kind person.)

Thank you for supporting our mission here at Muvipix. And, though it's always a bit embarrassing when Adobe secretly removes a feature that we cover in the book, we're very proud of our books, our tutorials and support products and, above all, the community of friendly and knowledgeable people who've come to call this place home.

Glad you can't yourself among our happy citizens, beekalmer! A very heart-felt welcome aboard!

(And don't forget to drop by our Introductions forum and tell us about yourself. We love to get to know our new friends.)

They haven't responded yet and they are usually pretty quick.
I'm wondering if they even knew this was broken?

Here is the response from the Adobe Team

Premiere Elements Team wrote:To answer your question - we have not had audio effect presets like the way we have had them for video effect presets as a section under effects (dropdown). The topic you mentioned has a discussion specifically about the missing presets in audio Pitch Shifter plugin alone. We had removed the presets in that plugin for certain stability reasons and we are evaluating if we can have it in the next version.

So I guess we will have to wait and see if it comes back...

Omph. This is a bit like ripping out your teeth to avoid getting cavities, isn't it?

I'm not holding my breath. It's sad when, instead of anticipating improvements and new features in the next version, of more concern is what other features and functions will be quietly removed for "stability reasons".

Although I have versions 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 & 9, version 8 was never installed and version 9 is only running my test machine. Version 7 is what I'll continue to use.

If they removed all functionality, it would be extremely stable. :-k
