The operating system should be listed on About This Mac.

In any event, since you're here in town, drop me a private message or an e-mail at steve at muvipix. I'm going to be busy for the next day or so, but after that you should drop by or I should come by to look at your computer and we'll see if we can figure this out together, if you'd like.

And, as for not having a book -- well, of course that's easily remedied!

The DV Lock is only if you want to capture Standard Definition video, there really isn't any need to do that.
At one time Premiere Elements didn't do a very good job of down converting from HDV to SD video but the newer versions, 7 and 9, do a really good job. So I recommend capturing HDV and editing HDV, if you need to create a standard definition DVD then you can just let the program do the down converting for you.

I've sent you some private correspondence, videocreater. I think when we get together I'll be able to answer most of your basic video questions.

Don and I were able to get together for an hour or so last night and his camcorder and connection checks out. Tonight he'll be testing it on his own computer.

(How's that for Muvipix service! I'm a one man Geek Squad!)
