Upgrade pricing?

Postby dlgilbert » Wed Sep 22, 2010 5:45 am

I've searched around on Adobe's site and can't find any reference to upgrade pricing. I just purchased a Photoshop/Premiere Elements 8 combo on the 16th of last month. I'm assuming I can upgrade to version 9 without paying full price. Has anyone seen where that info can be found?

For some reason Adobe always needs a few days to figure this out. Happens every release. They also usually upgrade you free from the previous version if you've purchased it within 30 days.

Call customer service and ask about it. They'll say they don't know -- but if enough people bother them they'll come up with a policy.

Don't be afraid to ask for the customer service supervisor. Remember, most customer service people are working from a FAQs sheet, and they usually don't know what's going on.

So after an online chat, a call to sales, and call to customer service, I had a ticket put in requesting a complimentary upgrade (which wasn't my intention... I just wanted an upgrade PRICE). I had purchased version 8 35 days before the release of version 9... just 5 days late.

So I got a email update today that Adobe would grant me a one-time exclusive complimentary upgrade... I just need to give them a call.

So I called... got tech support, where it took 10 minutes for them to figure out that I needed customer support... got transferred to customer support where it took 15 minutes for them to say they were sending me BOXED versions of PSE and PRE instead of just giving me serial numbers to download it. My repeated mentions that it was silly to waste money on packaging and shipping fell on deaf ears. LOL!

So I got a complimentary upgrade, which is great. But silly Adobe is just wasting time and money sending me a boxed version. :-)

Gotta love the way they follow procedure though :)

Glad to hear you got everything you needed, the upgrade will be well worth the time spent on the phone with Adobe and the packaging that will end up in a landfill somewhere :-8

I admire your diligence, Dan!

Your efforts will certainly (or hopefully) make it easier for the next person who tries.

Glad you got your upgrade!
