My footage is a little washed out

Postby Matthew Max » Tue Apr 26, 2016 9:08 pm

I have some good footage that I'd like to darken. This project is in PE9. How should I go about this for avi and mpeg files?

The type of file doesn't make a difference.

In PE, you would probably use the Image Control effect or the Gamma Correction effect. The Image Control Effect is one of the standard effects like motion that are already in the applied effects. Image Control will let you adjust the brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation. If the shadows and highlights are ok and you just need to adjust the midtones, you can use the Gamma Correction effect. This is similar to the middle adjustment in the Photoshop Levels adjustment --it changes the brightness levels of the midtones while leaving the dark and light areas largely unaffected.
