AVI Conversion

Postby wilbur60 » Fri Dec 07, 2012 8:49 am

I'm new to the forum and to using Premiere. I have version 9. I would like to convert an AVI file to some format that I can play on my DVD player in my home entertainment system. Can anyone help by pointing me to a simple tutorial? Or, if it's simple enough can it be posted here.

Welcome to Muvipix, Wilbur.

AVIs are not specific format but an envelope which can contain video using any of thousands of codecs. Where did this file come from? If it came from a camcorder, what model of camcorder did it come from and how did you get it into your computer?

The process of creating a DVD isn't a mere conversion. It's the process of importing a file into a Premiere Elements project, editing it and adding titles, effects and transitions and then Sharing it as a DVD (ideally with a menu system).

Is this AVI exactly how you'd like it to look in your final DVD, or do you plan to edit it first? Do you want your DVD to have a menu or just play?

Have you seen our free 8 part Basic Training tutorials for Premiere Elements?
