Premier Elements Pro 9 cropping screen

How do I crop the screen? The video I took is too wide and I need to crop so both sides are deleted.

Hi Sandra,
Welcome to Muvipix :wcm:

There are a couple of methods for cropping and/or shrinking the videos and photos to fit the screen/monitor.
My question would be, why doesn't the video fit in the screen to begin with?
Chances are you may not have used the correct project preset when starting your project.

Can you give us a little information about your video format and the project preset you selected?
That will help us determine if you have other issues or if you may run into other issues down the road.

For simple cropping you can add the Crop effect, but that will actually cut off the sides of the video or photo.
You can also shrink the video to fit using the Scale property, by scaling the clip down it will fit into your screen.

It could also be that you have the magnification on the monitor too high and it just looks like the video doesn't fit.
And another possibility is that you need to turn on Scale to Frame Size - Free Tutorial here

Sorry so many questions but we want to provide the best help possible and give you good solutions :)

Welcome, Sandra!

First, you ARE talking about video, right? It's not often we get a request to go from 16:9 to 4:3. But it's possible, if that's what you're asking.

But it's not really cropping so much as it is placing the widescreen video in a 4:3 video frame, as Chuck discusses in the Scale to Frame Size video he links to above.

Is that what you're trying to do?
