Image file Blurry

Postby 98maxima » Wed Sep 21, 2011 4:49 pm

Project setting: DV Standard (as per suggestiong here for mostly picture slideshow played on DVD player)
All images are formatted to 1000x750 and looks great on the computer and tv. The opening to my slideshow uses an image file created wtih Illustrator (wedding invitation) and then saved as JPG. When usign the DV setting, it is not sharp.

Using an HD setting, it comes out clear. IS there a way to sharpen this image up for the DV project setting? Or do I now have to edit my slideshow in a widescreen HD setting even though my pics won't fill the screen. If I do, is there a way where I can ensure the pics are standard size format on the widescreen editing? I would hate to have pics transition off to the far left and right etc..

Any guidance would be helpful.

Hi Maxima, Welcome to Muvipix :wcm:

Is the JPG from the Illustrator project at 1000 x 750 also?
If not you may want to resize it and try again.
Also, exporting the Illustrator file as PSD might work better, try that also.

Thanks,

It is 1000x750 and PSD now and not any better. It seems the DV project settings when rendered seems to make the picture look worse.

As mentioend, in the other project settings it comes out well.

Can I use this 1000 x 750 resolution and edit in HDV which I tried and it looks shap? THen when I "SHARE" it, export it back to a "Standard" format? I would just not get an accurate picture of what I am doing as some pictures looked crop in PE9 but when converted to MPEG, the picture had more to show. Let me know if there is any downside to this

Any other suggestions on how to make this work woudl be appreciated. Thanks Guys!

Premiere Elements can import .ai files directly as still images. Have you tried importing the .ai file?

That's a good idea Bob, I was also going to mention to use it at full resolution, turn off Scale to Frame Size and then adjust the image properties to scale it down to fit. Not sure why it would look that much better in a HDV project, wonder if Scale to Frame Size is turned on in that project?

Thanks everyone. I got it to work. When I am editing it, it looks blury even after rendering in the DV project setting. Once I "Shared" it is sharp. I edited for years with previous versions without this issue.

Last question. I am trying to import the 1000x750 presets downloaded on this site but the instructions included says to go to the Effects and transitions panel and select the More button and import presets. I can't seem to find this in PE9.

Thanks! Very much appreciate this. My wedding project is going be very smooth from this point forward.

Unfortunately, Adobe removed the ability to import presets from the last few versions of the program, Maxima. Sorry.

I think that was one of the things they wanted to leave in the Pro version only.
