Copying Groups from 1 document to another

I have a PSD with numerous layers .. grouped into 10 individual Photoshop Groups.

I'd like to copy 4 of those groups into a second document (same identical dimensions). Each time I've tried, they all come as a single layer. I need the Groups on separate layers.

The only way I've been able to get it to work is to Link all the layers within each Group .. then drag the groups in individually. Is there an easier way?

I don't know how you are copying the groups, but here's how I do it and I don't have any problems. It copies the selected groups and the contained layers intact.

Open both documents and tile them so both are visible side by side. Select the document you want to copy from and then select the groups in the layers panel you want to copy. Drag the selected groups from the layers panel and drop them on the other document. I generally hold the shift key while dragging to center the copied groups in the new document. The groups and the contained layers will be copied.

I wish you'd had some complicated answer, so I wouldn't feel so bad about not being able to get that to work

You're just trying to make me feel bad that I couldn't figure that out myself.

Not to confuse you, but a handy feature to add a photo or graphic to a project is to browse to that file in Bridge and File>Place in PS. It will come in center on your file with the Transform active. Just shift+drag to the right size. That file placed will be a smart object.

You just saved me a ton of extra work. I'm c-o-n-s-t-a-n-t-l-y adding photos to projects I'm working on .. and I always have Bridge open. Thank you, Cheryl!

Can't remember if you have a two monitor set-up but it certainly helps in instances like this, PS on one, Bridge on the other.
