Free High Quality PSD Graphics

Postby Dave McElderry » Thu Dec 30, 2010 1:31 pm

I came across this site while searching for some backgrounds. Most are not backgrounds, but they're unusual, very high quality, and have layers intact. Maybe some of us would have some applications for these. 77 pages and counting, but only a few on each page.

Thanks Dave, I found a few things on this site. Here is a new one, a billboard. This will work with a photo or video.

Ooohhh, that looks like a fun one. :-D Thanks, Cheryl. I just downloaded a bunch of stuff a week or so ago for my move to Photoshop & Premiere Pro, but hadn't seen this one.

I downloaded quite a few. The license fee is reasonable for commercial work. The ones I will use is for a friend's video, so no worry there. It is amazing to see all of the layers in PS that go into just one graphic!

Funny you'd say that. I just loaded Photoshop for the first time yesterday and wanted to open a couple of those graphics I'd downloaded in anticipation of learning Photoshop. I happened to open one that had dozens of layers. My first thought was: "Oh my God .. I don't want this much control!" I was ready to slink back to Elements 8-[

Jayell, full Photoshop is just Photoshop Elements plus some other bits. :---) Well, not quite, but if you are used to PSE then the step up to PS isn't too great.

If you have access to the Lynda Photoshop tutorials......... :-D

And, if you do prefer learning from videos rather than books, here is another great site for learing PS:

http://www.photoshopuser.com/

which gives you membership in NAPP.

B&H, plus other vendors, give discounts (10%?) to NAPP members.

Nice try, John. I'm 8 hours into the first (17-hour) Lynda.com tutorial. The first 6 hours never even touched on editing a photograph. Yeah, it's just a touch more complex. :-8

So many possibilities with PS! I've only had PS for a few months now and will continue to use PSE for the quick stuff and the graphics. I love PS for cutting out photos which is more masking out. The mask edge dialogue box is very useful for the mask edge radius to get a smooth feathered edge. And with a mask you can make changes later if needed.

Is that the tut where the first 8 hours are the parts that cover Bridge and editing in RAW(?) - along with the slogan "use Bridge for the general, PS for the detail" (or words to that effect)?

Haven't gotten to the 'raw' lessons yet, and don't recall that phrase, but yes lots on Bridge. How did we EVER live without that!! Only 20 more sets of lessons left .. while I also make the switch from Premiere Elements to Pro

Bridge has some very nice features. I like the pdf export feature. Easy to email the thumbnails. I did watch all of the Raw tuts...think the essential training is RAW for the first half.

Jayell, jumping in head first? Adding the suite all at once seems overwhelming. I wouldn't know where to start.

Yes, but as you say, you can switch to the 'familiar' when you need to do something quickly. I have all the Lynda.com tutorials laid out in the order I think I'd like to take them. I love doing this stuff! .. and I'm retired so I have more time than most folks.
