Cheryl did you get new equipment? I am seriously considering purchasing just need to figure if I can afford it, great price though.

I picked up the 70D last August and planned on keeping the T4i for time-lapse only, but it has just been sitting idle. Decided to clear out some of my gear. I rarely used this lens. I prefer primes and have one small-mid range zoom. I'll shoot the time-lapses on the 70D & GoPro.

The T4i uses contrast detection for AF and the 70D uses phase detection. Both have touch screens and both are crop cameras. Both perform about the same in low light and ISO settings. Francesco there are many comparison blogs & videos on the net. They will do a much better job than I can to explain.

With any camera the most important thing is light, how much light, quality of light, golden hour, etc. Of course the pro cameras like the 5Dm3 has a bigger sensor and better quality at higher ISOs.

Yes, I am keeping my prime lenses and one zoom. The above 18-135 IS STM is a very good range of focal lengths. The STM is a stepper motor. It is silent during focusing which is good for video/audio.

This best explains the difference. For cameras that are contrast AF it is better to use the AF to get your focus in Photo mode, switch the lens to manual and then go to Movie mode. It takes just a few seconds. OR shoot in manual focus.

Good news for you Chuck, my son's camera savings fund isn't as far along as I hoped. Turns out we can't get the T4i from Mom, which is too bad because she is a person I wouldn't worry about buying used gear from.
