Sending a video to a Kindle Fire

Postby Jayell » Wed Feb 15, 2012 1:54 pm

If I download a YouTube video using the MP4 360p option I can transfer it to my Kindle Fire with no problem. If I edit that same file in PP CS5 (nothing added .. just shortening the length) .. export as H.264 and transfer THAT file, it won't open. Did I just change the file format?

Can anyone tell me what I'm looking for to resolve the problem?

EDIT: The thing I love about Muvipix is that I can work on a project (unsuccessfully) for 6 days. As soon as I post it here on the forum and go back to my project, I find the solution.
I just used a YouTube Widescreen SD setting and everything worked (never saw that Preset before .. don't know how it got there).

I'm not sure about Premiere Pro. But in Premiere Elements, there's a Share setting for an iPad. That would be the ideal format to output. (It creates an MP4 file --- as opposed to just outputting an H.264 file, which might well create an M2V file.)

I'm glad you found a working solution. I'm curious, what H.264 preset did you use first that didn't work?

Hard to say, Bob. Since I am always adjusting video bit rate and file dimensions for my Website, it was always set at 'custom.' So I don't remember what original preset I was working from.

I don't find an iPad preset .. but since I found a solution, think I'll stick with that.
