Bright light transition?

How do you make a bright light transition in AE? Here is an example with a white blur, but I've also seen some with a color:

Aren't those just animated Lens Flare effects?

I was wondering that too. But, I have seen some with full color that starts a various x y positions and blooms outward. Animated mask? with a glow maybe? When I run across another example I will post. In the meantime, any other ideas?

I wonder if you could manipulate the properties of the "additive dissolve" transition??

Just a thought

It sorta looks like that transition. I used that one recently and it is very random. I've seen this transition dozens of times, but now can't find any more examples.

Chuck great minds think alike! I was just over at Video CoPilot looking over the tuts looking for that transition. Looks the lens flare is the one. I have his plug ins and will play with it. Looks like you can tint it too. Thanks.
