Glad to hear you're finding what you need at Muvipix, Mohamed! We've got such a wonderful community of people here.

Comparing Vegas Pro to Premiere Pro CS4/5 is tough. They are both among the best programs of their kind in the world! (Final Cut Pro is probably the only other program that compares.)

The only possible disadvantage to Vegas Pro is that it's not industry standard. You'll find lots of professionals using Premiere Pro and you'll find a lot of professionals using Final Cut Pro -- but you'll find very few using Vegas Pro. Which is a shame, because it's really an excellent program. And it's several hundred dollars cheaper than Premiere or Final Cut! So it's also an excellent value.

After Effects is a whole different program. After Effects is predominantly a special effects program. You generally don't edit entire movies on it. You usually work on short segments, which you export to Premiere or Final Cut for inclusion in a larger project.

Sony Vegas Pro does incorporate some 3d animation similar to Adobe Effects... for example with Sony Vegas Pro it is very easy to create a book opening and page turn animation that moves in 3D. Also for example it is easy to create a spinning cube with the sides unfolding... all that you would normally do in After Effects. That said, After Effects has very much more powerful capabilities then the limited 3d animation features of Vegas Pro.

- Later Edit -
This maybe an off topic but the most amazing product I've got from Sony was the sound forge as I did not found any other tool do the same job with the same excellence as sound forge does, isn't it?

Sound Forge competes with Adobe Audition. But, many prefer the Sound Forge interface which many feel is simpler and more intuitive. I think either can do the job.

Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro are probably the two most used NLEs in the industry. Final Cut Pro is only available for the Macintosh platform. Vegas Pro 10 is also good, but doesn't have the market penetration that the other two do. These are all fairly comparable products.

After Effects is a motion graphics and compositing tool, not a NLE, and is by far the most widely used tool of this class. Apple's Motion is similar, but, even on the Macintosh platform After Effects is dominant. Higher end (and more expensive) compositing tools are available, but you generally see those used mainly by the big film effects houses which may also use custom in-house developed tools as well.

Often, the choice of which to use comes down to personal preferences, computing platform, or what the company you work for chose, rather than technical merit.

NLE is the abbreviation for Non-Linear Editor. In other words, video editors such as Premiere, Final Cut, Vegas, etc..
