Fake Light Leaks in AE (Easy Tut) :)

Postby momoffduty » Sun Feb 03, 2013 4:40 pm

An easy way to create fake light leaks in AE. This tut is quick and to the point. You could make a few generic ones and use later in PrPro.

Times sure change. When I was young, light leaks were considered defects to be avoided. ;)

Along with vignetting, lens flare, & camera shake for that hand held look! Now there are plug-ins available to add in post. :)

I have a few ideas for the light leaks. One is to add interest to a title.

I'm already well-accomplished at all of those special techniques without using additional software!

Undesirable when you don't mean to; "artistic" when you do.

There's also an effect to simulate the "I forgot to press record" effect.
It's called "black video."

Also known as the lens cap still on! :fg:

Funny, I did just that Peru the other day. I captured perfect video of setting up the shot. Still not use to the new cam. #-o

I've been known to do even better than that. I've gotten mixed up as to whether I was in rec or pause and gone 15 minutes switching into pause when I thought I was recording and vice versa. Imagine my surprise when I found later that all that I had was shots of the ground or upside down video of the scenery behind me. :( It pays to sneak an occasional look at the REC indicator! :-({|=
