text layer

Postby Clayton » Wed Jan 25, 2012 2:31 pm

I have been learning AE by going through Classrom in a book. Big curve. Anyway the problem is when entering text and hitting enter to go to the next line, the cursor returns to the beginning of the line I am typing on. I have checked settings and can't figure why this happens. In PS and PPRo it works just fine. Any suggestions?

Solved my own problem. In the character panel, leading was set to 2px. Reset to auto and now okay. I didn't know what leading was but just stumbled into solution. \:D/

Leading is the distance between the baselines of successive lines of type. In other words, it controls the spacing of lines. The term comes from the days of hand type setting when thin strips of lead were inserted between the lines of type to increase the line spacing.

Thanks Bob, I will always remember that in the future. I don't know why it didn't default to auto to begin with.
