PE 8 preview has blocks of colour and picture jumps

Hi I wonder if someone can please help me.

I work in a school and our FilmStudies group has been using Adobe PE7 for a little while without too many issues. I upgraded to PE8 over the summer and they had their first lesson Friday - not great! They imported the film clips (all MPG and MOD) but when they insert them into the timeline the colours are all wrong (this is just in the preview screen), there are blocks of colour, the image jumps/stutters/freezes. I've tried rendering and that makes things worse. I've tried updating the vidio card driver and that didn't make any difference. I've converted the files to a different format (avi) and that made no difference. I've tried reducing the screen resolution and that did seem to improve the colour issue slightly but made no difference to the jumping. Sorry if there's not enough detail, please let me know what additional info you need if any.

Nevermind, I think I've fixed it. Turns out that maybe my video driver didn't update after all and doing it again seems to have fixed the problem.
