AVCHD no audio in the V8 Organizer

the following is a post that is over in the Adobe Photoshop Elements forum for a problem in the Organizer. However, since this is v8, it is the Elements Organizer and not PS Elements specific. This sounds familiar to me as a v8 problem, but my search in this forum did not find a match and so I am posting

I'm using PSE 8 and within the Organizer, I can view my avchd videos (shot with a sony hd video camera), however I am not able to hear the audio. If I view the video in another browser (ie., sony's picture motion browser), the sound is heard from the videos. I'm running vista on a dell xps 420, and have updated my drivers

The camcorder is a Sony HDR-CX7 and according to camcorderinfo.com records AVCHD with 5.1 audio. Premiere Elements has a project setting to fit AVCHD and 5.1 audio but this is the Organizer so I don't think the PE project setting is relevant.
