Motion Tracking

Motion Tracking

Postby SteveG » Wed Sep 30, 2009 1:02 pm

Has anyone tried the motion tracking? How well does it actually work? I am doing a movie where this would be perfect to use. If I need to add something to a persons body and it needs to stay with it exactly, would it work well?

I know I can download the trial but I wanted to see if anyone else had tried it yet.

Hey, Steve. Have you checked out my tutorial on motion tracking on the products page? :)

Actually, Motion Tracking is one of the features that works best in version 8, in my experience. Maybe because it's based on a similar tool in After Effects -- but it works very much as advertised!

Yes I did view it. I watched it about a week and a half ago I think.

I wasn't sure because, and correct me if I'm wrong since I may be thinking about another one, the timeline wasn't rendered and it didn't look quite that smooth.

However, this is exciting news. Looks like I will be upgrading when it comes out.

You're correct. What I showed you was unrendered and so probably did look a bit jittery.

But the results I've gotten, after rendering, have been very smooth. As I said, it's probably my favorite feature in the new version!

The hundreds of pieces of clip art are also kind fun -- even if I can't find much use for them. The dozen or so animated pieces are especially cool. Smoke, for instance, makes an interesting special effect.
