Copying Titles

Postby Walter Seaton » Tue Apr 17, 2012 5:31 pm

I am making a series of videos for our community of the recollections of our "old-timers" who are not expected to be around much longer. Whenever they mention somebody's name, I use the Title function to show the name and brief description of the person named, which then appears in the bottom left hand corner over the top of the video. Because all these peole belong to the same commnity, the same names are mentioned in most of the videos.

Is there any way I can save the Title once, either by copying it or by creating it outside of PRE8, so that I will not have to retype the same information over and over?

If you're using a title as a template and repeating the same basic look over and over in your video project, you can just duplicate it. Once you've made the title, right-click on it in your Project panel and select the Duplicate option. (Don't try to Copy and Paste or you'll just clone it -- and any changes made to one will affect all.)

It's a bit trickier if you're trying to use the same look in several different projects. The ability to export a title as a template then import into another project was removed from Premiere Elements a couple of versions ago. So you'll need to create your title in a program like Photoshop Elements as a backgroundless image file and save each title from Photo Elements as a transparent PSD file for use in your Premiere Elements project.

This thread also talks about it:

Once you've created the duplicate you can rename it to something that helps distinguish it from all the others. In this case probably the name of the person you're describing.
