2 video images without videomerge?

Postby GeorgeValparaiso » Sun Oct 16, 2011 2:27 pm

Hi, is there an easy way to view 2 clips at the same time without using chroma key or videomerge? I would like to blend 2 video clips together so the end result would be both videos playing at the same time. When a video is stacked on top in another track, only the top click plays. Thanks. I am relatively new to editing.

Hi George,
What you are looking for is Split Screen, you can adjust the size (scale) and position of each video so they both show on the screen. You have it set up right with one video above the other on the timeline, now you just need to go into the properties of each clip and adjust the scale and position so they both fit on the screen together :)

OK thanks. Will the images play side by side? I was trying to have them blend together. I want to have one video playing in the backround, then multiple clips playing on top of the video like a double image. Is this possible? Not sure if I want to use this or not but I am just curious what it would look like. Similar when a cross disolve transition is used. There is a moment when both images are seen disolved into each other. This is the effect I would like to see in my video - one steady video playing full screen, then multiple cross dissolved images also playing full screen. Everything would be costantly dissolved together. Is this possible?

Thanks!
George

You can have a video play in the background on track 1, then use the split screen with scale and position on tracks 2, 3, and so on.
You can also use the Opacity to see through the tracks to the track below. Have you watched the free tutorials or do you have any of Steve's books?
