Copy Audio Track

Postby Walter Seaton » Sun Oct 02, 2011 9:38 pm

I have a video clip with a very weak audio track. I would like to copy this track so that I can try to rescue it by importing it into a professional audio editing suite.

How can I copy just the audio track? The format would not be important as long as it is one of the recoganised audio formats.

Thank you.

I don't have Version 8, but I'm pretty sure the process is basically the same as V9. Use Share > Computer > Audio (you may have to scroll down the list to the bottom to find it). Choose your desired preset. Windows Waveform will give you a .wmv file. Give it a name and tell it where you want the file to be saved. Click on Save. Done.

Waveform will give you a WAV file, wmv is a Windows video file Dave ;)
Exporting as WAV will give you the best quality uncompressed audio file for editing :)

Hi Dave, Thank you for your advice. It enabled me to figure out how it works in Pre8. For your information, here is what I did to copy just the audio track in Pre8:

Share>Personal Computer>Select AVI>Advanced>Un-Enable Video>Audio Tab>Select either Mono or Stereo.

Produces an .avi file which plays in Windows Media Player. If Adobe Flash Video is selected instead of AVI it will produce an .flv file which plays in RealPlayer. Both these are compatible with my audio editing suite (Goldwave). Selecting MPEG produces an .ac3 file which plays in QuickTime and is not compatible with my audio editing suite.

Many thanks again.

Walter

PS to Chuck: As far as I could tell, Pre8 does not give you the option of exporting to .wav

It's there, Share>Personal Computer>Audio (just scroll down to the end)
