I watched them all and voted too. There were a couple of really good videos.

A couple of observations about the voting process:

I thought the voting mechanism was rather clunky. I like the 5-star rating system (I have it on my Coppermine photogallery), and it is adequate, but the clunkiness is because there is no way to go back and change a vote. For instance, say there are 25 videos to watch, and you can rate them 0,1,2,3,4 or 5. You watch the first video and you liked it. Do you rate it a 4 or a 5? Say you voted it a "5". If you rate all the videos you liked as a 5, and then you watch video #25 and it is head and shoulders above the rest, how can you say it was better?...there's no 6!
O.K. so then you try rating all the videos you liked as a "4" (leaving 5 open for the BEST one or ones). You rate videos #1- #25 all as 4's, then you decide video #12 was the best...you can't go back and rate it a 5!?
Does that make sense?

You could do like I did. Watch them all and take notes, then go back and vote. That gives you a chance to rewatch as many times as necessary to make up your mind and rank them before voting.

I use a scale of 0 - 5, including decimals. I rate each video based on various criteria; length, story, composition, editing, effects, music, and a few other things. That way I don't have to watch them all first, but that would be a fine way to do it also :) With a good scoring system you just rate each video based on the criteria and the ratings will all come out just fine in the end.

There were some really amazing videos in this year's contest. Congratulations to everyone who entered, especially the winning entries. And a big thanks to the Muvipix "powers that be" for putting together this year's contest.

I know the winner's names will be announced. But is there a way to identify which videos belong to our other talented members? Maybe after the winners are announced everyone can claim their entry in the thread that announces the winners. Or maybe each person can go back to their entry in the gallery to reveal their identity. Chuck or Ron, perhaps you have a system where this information can be made available to everyone?

Did anyone ever come forth to claim the two unidentified logo contest entries?

There's going to be a slight delay in choosing/announcing the winners of our Video Contest due to an illness in our family (Chuck) - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2821&p=23597#p23597

As soon as we are all able to finalize the entries, we'll announce here.

Thanks for your patience!!

Hi, I have only just joined muvipix. I thought I would look at the entries in the 2008 Video contest, but all the albums say Private and when I click on the different categories I cannot see anything. I have just joined the forum a few minutes ago. Is it only people that submit videos that can view and vote on this year's entries?

Thanks,
Robyn :???:

No, not at all. Voting has ended for the public and all of the votes are being judged/tallied by the muvipix Team for winner announcements which will be TBA. At that time, all of the videos and the owners will be unveiled.

Welcome to the forum!

-Ron

The top priority is Chuck's health, no need to rush. The one thing I am looking forward to is knowing who did the Franklin Commerical & how. I have a list of suspects and theories.

I am with you Cheryl - Chuck needs to be healthy before we continue with this, and he should not feel rushed in any way! [-o<

I wonder what the moderators think, though, about a thread where owners can claim their entries and discuss their methods... If this would skew the judges voting in any way, of course, it's a bad idea. But I am so interested in the tecniques of several of the videos!!! I will abide by whatever you decide!!

We definitely would welcome a discussion of tricks and techniques, Jennifer. That's part of the fun of a video contest!

Meantime, we're still on track for announcing our winners Friday. And thanks for everyone's votes!

Needless to say, decisions are going to be tough. There's not a clinker in the bunch!

Does this mean Chuck is doing better? We haven't heard his status since he went back in the hospital and I'm sure everyone is anxious to hear he is on the road to recovery.
Happy Editing,

Beth
