Idea for video contestRe: Idea for video contestCinde, as long as you disclose that fact in your video description, I see no harm in that.

Re: Idea for video contestRon this is a really good idea. I have started to storyboard my opus for submission. But I must say I am rather intimidated by the likes of the Muvipix crowd and the challenge of 1 minute. This should be a lot of fun.

Re: Idea for video contestYes, I'm a little intimidated too as there are some VERY talented people here. But I think it will be fascinating to not only see other areas of the world, but to view those areas through the eyes of others. We will get to see Town X and what the video creator thinks is important about Town X. And we can see each other's videography skills in action and probably learn a new technique n the process.
Yes, a minute is tough, that is why I chose it. Longer videos tend to not get watched, so let's keep it short and sweet. Desktop: HPE-580T, i7-950 (3.07GHz), 16GB RAM, Win'7 64-bit Home Premium, PSE12/PRE12, Lightroom 5.

Re: Idea for video contestThanks Francesco, that is very kind! I wish I had your artistry and creative vision. Your ability to weave video and music together really is poetic.
I am really looking forward to watching your video of your homeland. That will be beautiful I'm sure! Desktop: HPE-580T, i7-950 (3.07GHz), 16GB RAM, Win'7 64-bit Home Premium, PSE12/PRE12, Lightroom 5.

Re: Idea for video contestRon, thanks,
it is like dreaming for me. The key is watching attentively my creative inspirators, and you too can follow all of them on Muvipix and Vimeo... ... but one Thanks again for your contribute to my dreams, follow you on Muvipix and Vimeo
Re: Idea for video contestSooo.... Wondering how everyone else is doing with this.
I've been trying - and one minute is a very interesting challenge. (You know - you've done a fade in and a title fade and that's already 4.5 seconds - 7.5% gone , and add a fade out at the end and that's 6 seconds which is 10% - eek And how to make it flow without appearing rushed and actually impart some information - And do I really need that shot - And that fade in with a map is cool - but does actually help? And if I make all these half as second shorter does it allow the final shot to linger that bit more and not look like an afterthought. And and and ... - All good stuff. ) My chosen subject does not lend itself well to many fast cuts so perhaps I've made a rod for my own back. Anyhow - assuming I actually finish this - how do we want these submitted? Re: Idea for video contestThe simplest way would be to post them to Vimeo or YouTube and then post the link here, to this thread. (Or we could start a new thread, just for the entries.)

Re: Idea for video contestChris B...welcome to the overthinkers club!! If it makes anyone feel better I got zip so far. Hopefully I can get out and shoot something, anything, to fill a 1 minute video. My inspiration is running on empty.

Re: Idea for video contestHey Mom, I'm in the "zip so far" club too! I have an outline of the video and I have a list of things to shoot, but so far I have no footage. Having an hour commute to/from work makes shooting during the week tough.
Yes Chris, there are a lot of challenging aspects to a one minute video. I guess we could ratchet it up even further and do 6 seconds like Vine? I'm really looking forward to watching these videos. I hope everyone contributes SOMETHING. It will be cool to see everyone's corner of the world. Desktop: HPE-580T, i7-950 (3.07GHz), 16GB RAM, Win'7 64-bit Home Premium, PSE12/PRE12, Lightroom 5.

Re: Idea for video contestMy first idea is taking too long to execute so I am scrapping it. I am going to put something together..... ummmm soon
I think posting on Vimeo or Youtube and starting a new thread would be good. Sidd "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." ..... Ferris Bueller
Re: Idea for video contestWhen is the deadline? Labor Day is Sept 1st. Can we incorporate the holiday weekend somehow? Or would that be an unfair advantage to non US entries?

Re: Idea for video contestThe way I see it, copying Kent's "Just a Second" idea is the way to go. I've collected about 100 still images in a folder that will be likely candidates for inclusion.
Gotta warn y'all... I'm going to cheat. If I had to stay within my own county, all you'd see would be peach trees, soybeans, cotton and corn crops. To show you what it's like where I live, I'm going to include areas we go all the time. Nearby cities, the zoo, maybe the beach. We pretty much live at the beach for stretches at the time. If it wasn't as easy to get there as it is, we'd have to move there. Re: Idea for video contestI think this kind of thing is going to be open to interpretation.... I don't think mine is strictly to the letter - however I am being virtuous and nothing I have is more than 9 miles from my house I'm leaving the country in just over a week - so I'll have to get something done soon!
