Quicktime MPEG-2 Playback Component

Postby Ron » Fri Jan 29, 2010 6:50 am

Does anyone have this plug-in? Is it limited in its ability to play mpeg-2? Before I buy the component, I'd like to test it out, but they don't seem to have a trial. Maybe someone can let me "borrow" it before I purchase to see what it can do?

I like QT's simple editing abilities and output options. Pretty powerful little tool for the money!

Ron, I had this a few versions ago and it worked fine.

The problem I found with with Quicktime Pro is that when a new version comes out.
If you download and install the new version then you lose the Pro capabilities and have to buy it again. One reason I will stick with 7 and not go to version 8 when it comes out.

Hm... good to know. A lot of software out there do things differently (upgrades for life, upgrades until major versions, etc.), but it's the first I've heard of this.

Dirty pool! Won't be upgrading either!

Chuck, I don't know anything about this software, so I'm just whistling in the dark .. but when I update the freebie Quicktime, I also 'lose the Pro version of Quicktime' .. until I go and re-enter my registration number (or whatever it's called). Any chance that could have been what's happening? Probably a little late to tell by now.
