Chuck - How to plug in Pro Dad

Postby jess » Wed Oct 08, 2008 11:53 am

I've downloaded the Heroglyph plug in for PE4. I see it halfway down my effects list, but, the little box is empty (no visual icon) and nothing happens when I click on it. Any suggestions?
I posted this over at the Adobe forum and they directed me to you. Also, they want to know if there is a complete tutorial for Heroglyph.
Thanks Chuck,
Jessica :-D

Hi Jess, Welcome to Muvipix :)
You drag the effect to your clip and it will open Heroglyph in a new window. It is essentially a totally separate program.
Don't know about any tutorials for sure, I might do one for Muvipix later this year. Possibly something at creativecow.com
And this one might help http://www.prodad.de/faq/01/gb/faq-0000 ... 00006.html
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

Thanks Chuck,
And thanks for the welcome. So when I drag it to a title in the time line, the program opens up. I assume that I'll be able to create a title and then it will be transfered to the title in my project timeline? I'm trying it now. I'll report later.

OK, I just did a test. Pretty darn cool!!! I guess I'm going to have to spring for it. I made up a quick title and saved it in my project folder and there it was on the time line. I had used the program as a stand alone the other day and had great trouble outputting and AVI that didn't shake or stutter. I don't know which codec is the correct one to export with. I'll try the link you included on you post and will keep you up to date.
thanks again.

Jessica,

I did not check the link that Chuck offered, but assume that it is one for VitaScene. If not, he posted in the Tools sub-forum, I believe, with regards to the DigitalJuice/ProDAD sale. Though the tutorial/demo that I saw was VitaScene oriented, Heroglph is very similar in how it works, though different in what it does. The part that I'd suggest looking closely at is the link back to Premiere. That saves having to Export.

Good luck,

Hunt

[Edit] This is the tutorial, that I was thinking of: http://www.infotoday.com/eventdv/vitasc ... orial.html

Here is another on Heroglyph: http://www.prodad.de/gb/heroglyph_std_workshop.html

Hi Jess,

Can Heroglyph do this RANDOM LETTERS title effect:

http://geethree.com/slick/index.html

It is in Volume 5 (I mean click Slick 5),

then on the left panel, click Slick 5 Title Gallery.

Then on the 3rd column from the left, the Random Letters is the 4th Title from the top.

I think this website also use the Random Letters Title effects something like n the movie Matrix:
http://www.kpe.sg/

Any ideas whether Heroglyph can do it ?

Thanks

Ryan,

Head over to ProDAD and take a look here: http://www.prodad.de/gb/heroglyph_std_samples.html

There are several "examples" links on the previous page, but this (the first of those links) will get you started and will show many of the things that Heroglyph can easily do. Besides the included effects and templates, there is an add-on of additional effects, plus an add-on of common symbols, and clipart.

You might want to also check out Bluff Titler: http://www.outerspace-software.com/blufftitler.html

It can do some wonderful things too. IIRC, it's a bit less expensive than is Heroglyph

Last, one could look into Adobe's AfterEffects, but that is getting really expensive and the learning curve is quite steep. It will, however, give one total and absolute control with titles, etc. Most of the effects that one sees on TV nowadays are done in AfterEffects.

Good luck,

Hunt

Thnaks Hunt, I downloaded the trial version but haven't play with it yet.

But from the video tutorial, it looks cool and not so complicated.

But I have problem understanding the currency symbol. Is the price 39.95 USD or 39.95 British Pound Sterling ?

Is there an option where the text effects are preset, meaning to say that we just change the text and it will do the same as the preset animation except for the text ?

Thanks

Hi Ryan,
If you click on the link to purchase you will see the USD amount
https://secure.shareit.com/shareit/chec ... tid=188090

I would imagine that there are presets and you just change the text, but I have never used the Bluff Titler so don't know for sure.
There should be some tutorials to look at, they would most likely answer your questions also.
