Projects taking up Hard Drive Space --- what do you guys do?

Postby Kris » Fri Jul 13, 2007 12:53 am

Hi all

I know this may be a daft one.... but the PE files with all the photos and clips become really huge files dont they....

They are too big to burn to a disc

I've thought abut only saving the finished product and delet all the rendered clips, and copies of photos etc but what if I ever want to re-edit?

Projects range from 9GB to 58GB and I've not done many, my Adobe folder is 130GB in size

You all have a great day...cheers

Firstly you want to make a seperate folder for each project when you start the project to keep things easy to clean up.
There is an archive feature, but not sure if it is in PE1. All you really need to keep is the .prel file and your source media. You can delect everything else in the project folder. This consists of rendered clips and conformed files, these take up huge amount of room and are really temporary files and can be deleted. PE1 will rebuild them when you next open up and render the timeline.
As for archiving, for short projects, I archive to DVDs.
