date/time stamp

Postby videovillageidiot » Tue May 19, 2009 2:33 pm

I'm going to guess the answer is "you can't" but here goes...is there any way to hide the date/time stamp in a video that I bring into prem-el? It's bad enuf that my old source videos are .vob format, but then I have that great big date/time in the lower left corner. Example is here and below: http://muvipix.com/cpg/displayimage.php?pos=-2952

Also...for the new video that I shoot with my Canon ZR950 is there a way to store the date/time info but not display it during playback or capture?

Short of travelling back in time and reshooting without the stamp on...any ideas? Though let it be said I would LOVE to get back to Montana ASAP!!!! :)

Thanks!!

I think the Time Machine was the best idea of a bad lot. EDIT: You could crop off the bottom and perhaps make it a widescreen presentation. Sorry nothing better.

Ron, I couldn't view his video - just a black rectangle, and sometimes even not that after scrolling. Firefox 3.0.10. EDIT: I just right clicked on the blank area and picked Play and it worked - strange.

For MiniDV files you could try http://www.dvdate.ru/en/dvrecdate.html plugin (not free) or http://paul.glagla.free.fr/dvdate_en.htm which you could use to get the date info.

I can't get the video to play either, even in the gallery. If I click on the link and open Windows Media Player then it plays fine.
It did open eventually but it seems like the frame size is off by quite a bit.

Now on to the original question:
The time on the clip is actually part of the video and is controlled by the camcorder.
You can turn that off somewhere in the setup menu of your camcorder.
On my camcorder there is an option to have it remain on the screen or just display for a few seconds everytime I start shooting.

Considering the position of the date and time on the screen it is going to be hard to get rid of it.
Cropping all the way up to that section will cut a lot of footage out. This is something you might just have to live with.

Ron, if I overlay another window over the video and then bring the forum page back to the front I can see the video fine until I move the page/scroll.
Don't know if it is strictly a Firefox problem or not but it works just fine in IE.

Same as I posted above.
I can see the video when I am using the slider, if comes in and out.
If I ovelay another window over the video (like my email client or windows explorer window) and then make the forum active again, I can see the video.
But only until I move the forum page, if I use the scroll bar the video disappears again.

As I said, this is not an issue in IE. Didn't we go through this a few weeks ago? I might have to download a plug in for Firefox.

Yeah, get this one - http://port25.technet.com/pages/windows ... nload.aspx

I had the scrolling issue as well, but after installing that plugin' and changing the code a bit, it works rock solid for me now.

I can't keep up with these browser issues. If it isn't one thing, it's something else. We're just going to have to fix/advise as we go [-(

A question -
Is it possible in Premiere Elements to do any color or luminance adjustments to only the "timestamp pixels" ?

The reason I ask is that as I was viewing, it seemed to me that if the timestamp characters/numbers were darker they would be less prominent. A middle tone towards darker gray seemed like it would be less noticeable.

There's an error message: "Error - Plugin could not be loaded."

I've seen it on a few posts today.

For example, the first post in this thread ends with:

"Short of travelling back in time and reshooting without the stamp on...any ideas? Though let it be said I would LOVE to get back to Montana ASAP!!!!

This is a Firefox plugin issue folks, things got a little screwy with the last Firefox update.

It might be possible to key them out but that would only make them transparent.
