Is there a way to change where elements stores videos when you import them? I have a 1tb external drive and would prefer everything to go there in the first instance. Thanks.

Edit the preferences. Under "scratch disks" you can specify the location for the captured video. I use "same as project" and simply create the project where I want it to go.
