scenemenu in a menu in a main menu

Hi all,

I don't know how I can make a scenemenu in a mainmenu in a mainmenu.

First you see a main menu. Here you choose if you want to see films of my dad, my brother or my wife.
After this mainmenu you come to a page from the person you chose. In this menu you can choose which film of these person you want to see.
After this menu I would like to add a scenemenu where people can choose a scene from the selected film.

But is this possible to make in Premiere Elements 4, and how?

Hope anyone can help me.

Hi Dennis, and welcome

PE (or PRE using Adobe's designation) has only a minimal menu system, and can't do submenus.

A lot of us have been using Sony DVD Architect Studio. It has fantastic power in that regard, cost less than $50, and our own Steve Grisetti has just written a new book on it.

Bobby is correct, Premiere Elements does not provide the capability to create the menu structure you describe. You'll need something else to create that type of menu structure. You can easily create that type of menu in Sony DVD Architect Studio http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/dvdastudio which is only $39.95 if you purchase the download version. A real bargain for such a powerful tool. You would make your movies in Premiere Elements as you normally would and then use Sony DVD Architect Studio to create your menus and burn your DVD. However, it does not support creating Blu-ray discs.

There is a trial version on the Sony site that you can download and try if you wish.

A user, on another forum said that there was a good book just out, on Sony DVD Architect, by someone named S. Grisetti, whoever that is. Might be worth a look.

If DVD Architect has much of the Menuing power as Encore, this structure would be easy to create.

There's a product called DVD Remake Pro, for about $50 USD, that will merge (among other things) up to 4 separate DVD projects. The top menu with buttons pointing to each DVD movie is supplied by DVD Remake Pro, but you can substitute that menu with any other menu that's in any other VIDEO_TS folder, but doing that requires some additional editing (but not difficult) in DVD Remake Pro. So you could have 4 movies on a disc, each with a submenu and bonus items, all of which were created in Premiere Elements, with a top menu added in DVD Remake Pro, which you can substitute with another menu of your choice.

If you decide to download DVDRemakepro and try merging some DVD projects, then first burn to folder in Premiere Elements two to four separate DVDs. In DVDRemakePro, you import each DVD: File > Import DVD. Navigate into the Video_TS folder and then click Select. There will be a separate window for each DVD. Then after the DVDs have been imported, you merge them: Tools > Merge DVDs. That will create a new project with the merged DVDs. Then export the merged project: File > Export DVD. You'll have to rename the folder to VIDEO_TS before you burn it with a 3rd party app.

I'm not going into what you need to do to substitute your own menu, with or without audio, of any length.

Thanks for that tip. I have a couple of older DVD Projects that were quite small. The PrPro Projects no longer exist and I was thinking of combining these onto one DVD, but did not want to go to the trouble of re-doing the Projects to get what I needed for Encore. This might just be the ticket.

Steve IS writing another book as we speak. (It's a book on how to use Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements together.) But sometimes his brain hurts.

After you are finished with that book, please consider writing a book about MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus. That is the other video editor I use which happens to be very feature rich. It needs a book.
