Using project edits between two different projects

Postby tiny » Sat Jan 31, 2009 2:56 am

So I goofed big. I accidentally started editing my 30fps HD footage on a 25fps DV timeline in premier. I went through edited the whole thing and then rendered it at 720p @ 30fps before I realized the goof. Is there any way I can fix this without going through and starting over. Is there any way to copy and paste a timeline between projects, or a way to apply edits to the same footage in a different project. I hope there is something that can be done. Thanks for the help.
I wish I were creative enough to write something witty here.

At least you caught it when you did, Tiny! As you know, you can't change project settings mid-project. (Although I suspect there is a hack to doing it.)

You also can't cut and paste between projects. At least not natively in the program.

But many have had success cutting and pasting between projects using an add-on program called ClipMate.

With any luck, you'll be able to do it with the free trial. Otherwise, $35 is a small price to pay for this powerful function, isn't it?

It did! It didn't hold the transitions, but all the cuts and effects were present. It also took my soundtrack and placed it in the audio 3 line. However all those fixes took less than 5 minutes, verses re-editing the whole thing. So it was a life saver. The copy tool is a little confusing, but once you figure it out, it is impressive.

I have heard that Clipmate will not copy the transitions. It does seem to be a wonderful and helpful tool though. I'm glad it has worked out for you.

Glad to hear it's a workable solution, Tiny! (And thanks for being our guinea pig.)

I knew ClipMate could copy and paste between projects, I just wasn't sure it would work going from two different project settings!

Another problem with using Clipmate to copy and paste between projects is with the audio. In prior versions, the audio seemed to paste okay, but after you save and exit and then load the project again, the audio is missing. Peter Duke and I gave it a really good workout and posted a bunch of information about using Clipmate on Adobe's Premiere Elements forum in the Tips and Tricks section.

Johnston - I'm glad to hear that from you, as I thought I had just hit another PE4 glitch. I went to do a different edit without effects, just for me and the actors and I found this audio issue to be the case. Not that I can import the audio from the published version easily enough, but it could cause a problem for someone who closes the program before publishing.

Too bad that link is no longer valid, Adobe really screwed that up :pull:

The old posts may be over here: http://adobe.groupbrowser.com/f121.html

Search the forum for Clipmate. There are many entries.
