ok - new problem -
I have 2 avi files and the quality is fine on both - BUT the image is only about 1/2 the size on the one AVI file
when I zoom in on it using the scale tool - then it looks blurry
what have I done wrong?
did I initially save the wrong setting when I captured this?
or perhaps save the wrong settings when I exported?

Where did the avi files come from? Was one from a digital still camera that takes video, too?

Go to the media panel and right click on the clips and select properties. What does it say about the size? Anything else different?
How did you create the clips, did you export one? If so, how did you export it?

I have had Premiere Elements interpret the footage incorrectly at times from the HV20. Thinks it isn't widescreen for some reason. I go into Interpret footage and switch it to widescreen and then it is fine.

yes - these files were all exported - and they are all exported the same way - so why would MOST of the clips be ok - and now I have 2 of these clips that are half the size they should be on screen........
the other clip is squished - I will try the interpret footage on that one..........

What steps did you use to export? What preset did you use if any? What is your project setting? Considering the first one was mpeg and this one is AVI it makes things a little difficult to figure out. If you just select File/Export/Movie from the main menu and don't touch any settings it should be the size of your project.

I was told to change the setting to:
Microsoft DVI for the File Type
Pixel Aspect Ratio is changed to: D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2)
and the Field is changed to Lower Field First
