Missing sound in Vista

Postby ian chamberlain » Thu Jan 03, 2008 7:50 pm

I have just moved my copy of PE 3.0.2 to a shiny new vista machine.

It works like a charm, much faster than my XP ever was, but has one problem which I can't fix. When editing I get no sound from application other than Vista error "bongs" and such like. If I export a project to DVD or folder however the sounds are all there.

Tinkering in control panel, I seem to have two audio channels and PE seems to have allocated all its audio to the channel that is not connected to my speakers or head phones. Any clues folks.

Thanking you in advance

Under Edit > Preferences > Audio Hardware > ASIO Settings make sure Speakers is enabled and not "Digital Output Device".

Many thanks Paul, I now have it. On mine it was under "Audio output mapping" and thanks to HP the speakers were called HD audio out... and moving the "sounds" from digital to my speakers required dragging a tiny "diablo" like icon.

I had tried clicking that a while ago but when you click nothing happens. When you drag however, as if by magic ...

Once again many thanks for your prompt and helpful reply.

Regards

Ian
