cant play free galley downloads

Postby cincinedit » Fri Jun 24, 2011 9:10 pm

I wanted to play around with one of the special effect in the free download section before I signed up for higher membership. I downloaded mi-7 Special (movie) Effects I cannot get PE 7 or PE 9 to recognized the blowout file. Some of the timelapse files will work but not all. I know they are .AVI so I don't know why they will not play or be inserted to project. Windows media player says the codec is not there either. I not going to pay for a subscription I cannot use the files. Any direction you could point me in would be great. I am going to delete the files and re dowload to see if that help.

The file that will not work is blowout

TIA

I can confirm that the Blowout and Windstorm files have something wrong with them and will not play. In addition to this post I'll also send Ron a heads-up. I'm sure he will take care of it very soon. Check back for an update. Thanks!

I just double-checked these files and they do indeed us the DV codec.

Just be sure to Unzip the files before you try to play any of the AVIs and they should work.

Well whatever the difference is, there is a difference. These two files in particular don't work for me either and I have the K-Lite Codec pack installed. The other files that came from the same zip play fine. I don't remember the last time that I wasn't able to play a file with an AVI extension. :-k

That codec is the Indeos codec, which isn't supported on 64-bit operating systems and not supported on Vista or Window 7, just XP and earlier.

If that's the case, I'll see if I can convert these into more editable DV-AVIs. Thanks, Robert.

Okay, I've converted these videos to DV-AVIs. We'll let you know when we've replaced the old ones with the new.

Thanks for your patience!
