Export to tape stops randomly

I have a problem with Adobe Premiere elements 7.

I use it for more than 1 year without big problems, saving my projects on
DVD or on AVI or MPEG-2 files.

Now, I have a 59 minutes project I want to export on tape (miniDV) for the
first time. When I save on tape, after 2 or 3 minutes, the recording process
stops without any error, displaying the message in the box: "recording
sucessful".

I try again, and the same problem arises after less than 4 minutes.

What can I do?

I'm not sure why this is happening -- but we're seeing more and more reports of this happening.

The issue seems to be that a Windows background process keeps interrupted the output to tape, and this causes Premiere Elements to stop the process.

Until we can figure out why this is happening, there is a workaround. Just output your project as an AVI (Share/Personal Computer/AVI). You can then import this AVI into a Windows MovieMaker project and use MovieMaker to export it to your camcorder.

MovieMaker doesn't seem to be as sensitive the background interruptions.

This has been a problem since version 4. The only thing that I found that prevents this from happening is using a utility called Windows Sniper from http://www.unhuman.com in order to "Encapsulate" Premiere Elements.

At one time I thought the problem had to do with the internet connection. I physically disconnected the cable from my computer and then playback did not stop. But sometime later for some reason I reverted back to using Windows Sniper and then eventually just stopped using Premiere Elements for exporting back to tape.

Thank you Steve, I think I'll give Windows MovieMaker a try.

Thank you RJ Johnston, I see that Windows Sniper is an interesting software, althought it's not free.

Thank you everyone for your help.

Might be worth posting this to our Premiere Pro forum, tosnana. But welcome to Muvipix anyway!

I, too, have just come across this problem in my testing of transferring my project from the computer to my digital VCR (which uses tape). I disconnected the internet cable from the router and my program worked fine (after two attempts which failed with the router cable connected).
Can't think of a reason except possibly Avast! (my virus checker) is doing something and that upsets PR7. Not that I'm an expert, mind!
If I have any more problems (and I'm sure I will - video editing programs have a mind of their own sometimes!), I'll try Sniper.
All the best,
Bill
