Is there a setting somewhere that will adjust Instant Movie so that it doesn't cut off heads in the photos? I suspect that if I were to set the Scale to Frame Size or make adjustments in Properties that would work but once you apply Instant Movie it appears that those attribtes are not able to be added / changed.
Thanks,
Toni

Hi Toni You are going at this video thing full speed ahead, good for you To use instant movie I think you will need to size your images to the same size as your project or make sure you have 'Scale to Frame Size' selected for the entire project.

Okay Chuck, thanks. When you say to make all the iamges the same size as the project, are you referring to the resolution? I resized the folder of photos to 1000 X 750.
I changed the Scale To Frame Size and that did the trick.
Thanks,
Toni

When using the instant movie with a standard NTSC project setting you would need to size the images to 720 x 480, or even 640 x 480. Otherwise you will have issues like the one you just had. Selecting Scale to Framesize will also solve the problem as you also found out

Works a lot better than the anti-head cutoff filter.

Yes, the anti head cut off worked like a charm... I mean Scale to frame size. Just like it sounded but I thought I tried it earlier... Heck I tried so many options, must have lost track... I am using HDV 720p preset so the recommended is 2200x1235 but anyhow, Scale to frame worked.
Yes, I am trying to turn 1,000 still pics from a wedding into A DVD by next weekend and I just purchased the product. I think I have played enough that I know how to change everything and my main concern is that it will not handle so many photos.... After I get this DVD done, it will be more fun building myself vs. instant movie...

I don't know if there will be a problem with that many photos, but your photo size is very large. You could make 4 or 5 projects using 200 to 250 photos each. Export each project as a DV-AVI file & combine into a main project. I usually divide my Wedding slideshows into segments: getting ready, ceremony, after wedding (family shots at church), wedding party photo shots (off site), and reception.

1000 photos even at 8 seconds each is going to be over 1.5 hours long. Nobody wants to watch 90 minutes of still images

I agree Chuck that 90 minutes is too long. The longest slideshow I made was of my daughter's wedding. That was 18 minutes and used about 200 photos. I had my daughter pick out her top 200 photos out of over 1,000 from the photographer, friends, and the cameras on the tables. I think that took her longer than me making the slideshow.

Actually, even with Scale to Frame default checked on... it is still cutting the top part of I assume all photos, you just don't notice it on most... I am sure it depends on what transition or option is selected for the photo series... I am not sure why 2200x1235 is recommended... I would like to find out what setting to use or what size photos... I am using the HDV 720p Preset because it produces the best DVD quality output... I know that unless I am using blue ray, I should not see the difference on the TV but I do and it is quite significant. I believe the HDV 720p was better than the HDV 1080i preset... And my source is good PSD still photos.
Does anyone know what setting or size photo I need for the HDV 720p Project Preset... I will be outputing for DVD wide..
Thanks ... the first couple days have been a bit frustrating and I can not wait to get control over the project... I just have too many to do too fast so I have to stick with Instant Movie...

Great, I will try this tonight... A little thing got in the way called work.... I hope it will let me do this with an instant movie but I see the yellow lines and it would allow me to adjust the audio volume at least the same for each clip/output from each instant movie...
Thank you...

Chuck, Adjusting the Clip Properties Scale does not work after the Instant Movie has already been built.. It makes the frame size smaller or zooms out but the photos is still cut off. I will have to re-import but since I had the option on to scale to frame size, I am not sure smaller original photos will help..

I resized my import to 1000x750 and this did not seem to crop but I then imported same photos sized at 2200x1235 and they looked the same, not cropped...
Now I am thinking it is the instant movie and specific style or whatever it is called. Since I have no control, I need to settle on what it builds unless any other thoughts...
Most are ok but some of the more formal shots look real bad with missing heads...
