lost audio

Postby ridon127 » Sat Mar 16, 2013 9:29 pm

I have a project i have been working on with no problems. I pulled it up tonight and there is no audio. I have checked all the settings that i know of and nothing was wrong. My computer shut down the other day to do some microsoft updates and when it went to restart, it had some kind of failure going on. i worked with it and finally got it back to original settings so i don't know if that has anything to do with the sound issue. i have checked to make sure the speakers are plugged in.. help me please!!! :pull:
thank you!!
Go out and make it a great day. The choice is yours!

Do you have any sound in Windows or is it just in Premiere Elements that you have no sound?

If it looks like it may be a Windows problem, you could try this: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/AudioPlayback/

Do you know any computer repair guys in your area Donna? Even the Geek Squad should be able to handle getting the audio working again.

Do you know what Audio Device/Adapter is on your computer? Could be SoundMax or RealTek, maybe others.
Might just need to reinstall the driver. There are a couple things we can still try, do you know how to open Device Manager?

What operating system is on that computer? Windows XP?
In Windows XP you can right click on MyComputer, select Properties, then Hardware, then Device Manager.
If necessary you can go to the Sound, Video and Game Controllers and right click on any audio devices and/or drivers then select uninstall. After that you can restart the computer and Windows should recognize and re-install the devices correctly. That is one option but let's try something else first.

Let's try updating the RealTek audio drivers before trying anything else, what make and model computer is this?

There are a number of different Pavilion models, can you tell me specifically which one?
There could be different drivers depending on what model it is, don't want to have you install the wrong one ;)

Hi Donna,
Here is the link to the audio driver download page
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/soft ... 65743#N200

If you have any questions let me know but you just need to download and install, follow the instructions and it should be fairly simple. Do you have your monitor connected to the computer with an HDMI cable? It seems as though this is a known issue with that computer and causes audio problems, strange but true;

Released:
2009-10-28
File name:
sp44380.exe [1/1, 24.02M]
Version:
6.0.1.5910
Compatibility:
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Basic (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
Fix/Enhancement:
Resolves an issue with no sound coming from headphones or external speakers when the system is connected to a monitor via HDMI cable.
