Install Adobe Creative Suite 4

Postby Judy » Thu Sep 17, 2009 4:17 pm

Greetings,

I was just able to purchase Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium, Education version. I have some of the programs already on my computer from the previous iteration (CS3). Should I uninstall them before install CS4? The package that I have is the education version and on the box it says that it "combines full new versions of After Effects CS4, Premiere Pro CS4, Photoshop CS4 extended, Adobe Flash CS4 Professional, Adobe Illustrator CS4, Adobe Soundbooth CS4, Adobe OnLocation CS4, Adobe Encore CS4 with Adobe Bridge CS4, Adobe Device Central SC4, Adobe Dynamic Link and Adobe Media Player."

WHEW! I will also need to purchase some reference materials to be able to use this package to its best advantage.

I am running Windows XP Professional 64 bit.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi Judy,
Most of the Adobe products install as separate, new, applications.
I have After Effects 7 and CS3 on the same computer without issues.
You can uninstall the older versions or leave them alone, either way the CS4 versions will work just fine.

I just installed CS4 Premium a week or so ago. I did not have to remove some of the CS3 programs I already had on my computer.

Judy - Hopefully you won't be as overwelmed as I have been trying to learn all this new software. The free Lynda.com tutorials are great.

I am also trying to understand how Lightroom interacts with all of this...
