If you have a basic knowledge of FTP, I can provide an upload area for you (that is, if you determine also that you can upload the whole project).

File size is not an issue.

very nice of you, Ron! :)
Cheers!

Cheryl, If we could zip up everything then that would work, unless I am missing something?
We would need all of your project, menus, photoshop menus, AVI and WAV files, motion menus....

I am willing to help out and see if I get the same error when using your project.
If there is another way, then please someone jump in and guide me :)

I could send test10 which is no menu and a 30sec avi file. Would that work? If so, how do I zip the project and avi file? Is it then uploaded like usual files?

Still no word from Adobe, the 12 hour response time must not apply...been 24hours :(

Ron, I don't have basic FTP knowledge, don't even know what that stands for. :-8

Hopefully Lee can tell you how to zip the project up. If it's less than 50MB, then you can upload it to the Gallery. If it's more, I have other tricks up my sleeve.

Ron, where do you get your bag of tricks?

The project file is 642 kb and the clone.avi is 101 MB at 30 sec. I could make another AVI file from that down to 15 sec which would be 1/2 and hopefully under 50MB.

That may be easier for you.

That's all I use because it's trouble free.

Mom also in your project panel (Default workspace) try and transcode each timeline and motion menu individually.
Once your project is built you can do that.
Process of elimination.
If it transcodes your good to go.
If it doesn't that's where you must look a little closer.
Thanks

Richard, did run a few more tests for the process of elimination. The test did not have a menu, just an AVI clip that I had created from a previous project in PE3. As it was building the timeline, went thru the progress of transcoding video, then the audio, then importing. It was after that during the start project phase that it stopped with the error. The asset panel showed that the timeline was transcoded so used that on the timeline for the build. And it stopped during the start project phase again. Think that was what you were suggesting.

I did get a reply from support. A 2 page checklist and will take me awhile to go thru.

Really appreciate everyone's help & suggestions. If all else fails, guess I can save PrPro projects as a DV-AVI files and import into PE3 to finish.

Re: Encore Q's

Postby momoffduty » Wed Jun 04, 2008 9:09 pm

Well, hopefully with fingers crossed, think my Encore saga has come to an end. Did 2 things. First, cleared the temp files on computer. Second, exported from PrPro a slightly different path. Before, exported via media encoder and that gave me a Mv2 file. This time File>Export>Export to Encore and changed the settings in Multiplexer to DVD. This now gave me a MPEG file. (The Mv2 file was two separate files=video&audio).

Encore burned to disc & folder using the MPEG file! Tried to bring a DV-AVI file and no go, so transcoded it into MPEG in PrPro and it worked then as well. Haven't checked any other file formats yet or MP3 files. Did try a static menu and worked.

Haven't gone thru the other checklist items yet. Did notice on Adobe site that there is an update for H264 & blue ray. Not using blue ray, but is strongly suggested for all users. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/ ... ftpID=3675

I guess the blessing in all of this after a zillion attempts is that I am pretty fast with the pick whip! :)

Thanks for everyones help!

Received from Adobe Support for future reference and maybe I don't need to do all of the following. May have questions later.

Hello Cheryl,
Thank you for contacting Adobe® Web Support for assistance with AdobeEncore® CS3.
I understand that when you attempt to build your project, you encounter
a PGC error referencing your timeline.
I am unable to determine what would cause this behavior with the
information you have supplied. Please reply to the following infor
mation and perform the following steps to resolve this conflict:

-Verify that you have twenty gigabytes (GB) or more space free on your
main hard drive. If you are building a dual-layer DVD, you should have
additional space. You can check this by opening My Computer,
right-click on the local drive (usually "C:"), and choose Properties.

-Clear the temporary files from your computer. To do this, quit all
applications and then click Start->Run, type in "%temp%" and click OK.
In the window that appears, select all files and then delete them.
Once deleted, open the Run dialog again, type in "cleanmgr.exe" and
then click OK to start Disk Cleanup. Once the calculations have been
made, make certain that "Compress Old Files" and "Office Setup Files"
are NOT checked, and then check Recycle Bin, Temporary Files, and
Temporary Internet Files before clicking OK.

-Export your project out of Adobe Premiere® Pro as a multiplexed MPEG-2
video. To do this, perform the following steps:
1. Open your project in Premiere.
2. Click in a blank area of your sequence at the bottom.
3. Click the 'File->Export..>Export to Encore' menu option.
4. In the "Export to Encore" dialog, verify that the type is set to DVD
Single Layer or DVD Dual Layer, depending on what type of DVD you will
be using.
5. Click the Settings button to bring up the Export Settings dialog.
6. In this dialog, choose the Multiplexer tab, and then choose the
"DVD" option. You can adjust other settings, such as the quality, if
you wish, but the Multiplexer should be set to DVD.
7. Click OK in the Export Settings dialog, and then click OK in the
Export to Encore dialog.
8. When prompted, choose a name and location to save this file. Upon
completion, place this file, which will contain your video and audio
together, in a new timeline in Encore.

-If any of your assets, such as menus or any of your images, stored on
external hard drives or network locations, please move them to an
internal hard drive before attempting to build your project.

-Update your audio card and video card drivers by visiting the website
of the manufacturer to download them, and then install the device driver
software. If you do not know what type of audio card or video card you
have, click Start->Run, type "dxdiag" in the Run dialog, and then press
Enter or click OK. In the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, go to the Sound tab
and the Display tab to view the names within the Device sections of
each.

-Other software running in the background can cause conflicts when
running concurrently with Encore. Use the following steps to determine
if another program is interfering with the application:
1. Quit all applications.
2. Go to Start->Run, type in "msconfig" in the Open box, then click OK
or press Enter on your keyboard.
3. Click the Startup tab, and record all unselected items
4. Click the General tab, and choose Selective startup.
5. Deselect Load Startup Items. Verify that Process System.ini File,
Process WIN.INI File, and Load System Services are checked.
6. Click the Services Tab, and check Hide All Microsoft Services and
then click Disable All.
7. Click OK, and restart Windows.

-It is possible that your user account may be damaged. Create a new
administrator user account on your computer, log out of your current
user, log into the new account, and create a new project to see if it
will work for you.
*For instructions on creating a new user account, see "Add a new user to
the computer" in Windows Help or contact your system administrator.

-If you have added any chapter marks to any timelines that may exist in
the project, make sure that they are not close to the end of any
timeline. Please also remove all chapter marks from the timelines and
then attempt to build your project. If this works, you can add back
chapter marks until the problem re-occurs.

-Check to make sure that you do not have any gaps between assets in any
timelines you may have.

-If you have a looping menu with audio or video, make sure that the
looping time is more than 11 frames.

-If you have any audio files in the program, make certain that they are
16-bit WAV files with a sample rate of 48 kHz. If they are not, convert
them and then replace the asset in Encore. You may also have success
using some MP3 files.

Definitely check these. And to add to the 'looping' part, make sure the video loop is as long as the audio or vice versa.
The length of the audio should match the length of the video in othe words. You don't have to edit anything just make sure that were you put the # of loops you also make the length the same for the audio and video clips.

Yes, Lee. Have to transcode assets in PrPro to MPEG2 file and it works. And will use WAV files to add audio to menu. Haven't checked psd or jpeg yet.

On the Adobe forum, there are many with this problem. It was strongly noted not to change, delete, move assets after bringing into Encore. Which applies to PE3 too and understand how things get unlinked. This did not apply to my tests. Someone also posted that they no longer use Bridge because of problems in Encore. Don't think Bridge was my issue since I can get it to work and the 2 tests with unedited video that worked was brought in with Bridge. Love using the Bridge, haven't tagged anything yet, but works great to see and preview the assets.

Tried to run the Encore update. Window pops up saying to stop the following application "firefox.exe" Any ideas on how to do this?

Thanks or your help and concern!

Hello Cheryl.
I also use Bridge to link between the CS3 components that I have and I have had not experienced any problems - maybe it is that I am just lucky ( :???: ).

To stop 'firefox.exe' press the contol/alt/del keys to launch Windows task manager. Click on the Processes tab, highlight firefox.exe and click on the 'end process' box.

Thanks John, good to know that Bridge is no problem. Really like it.

And thanks for the stop firefox.exe. #-o Have done that on numerous occasions when a program freezes up. I tend to overthink things since my comp lit is spotty. :-8

I use a program called ( EnditAll ).
It lists all running programs, visible and invisible. It will shut down any one of them, or shut down all except the ones you've decided to protect. Comes in handy for when I want to close everything (that is safe to close) to start a long edit session!

There are other options in there and it was free but you may have to pay for it now.

Here is some info about it!
