Thank you. I tried Windows Media Encoder on the laptop. Unfortunately, the machine froze. However, now I see that the desktop no longer plays the video for mpeg files! That means that there was a change that affected both computers. My first guess? Real Player#11. I hate to be accusatory but it does point to that. I am aware that Real Player can alter certain settings. I ran into these issues a few months ago in matters dealing with PowerPoint.
My temporary solution is to create a wmv file with PE2, then bring that file down to size with WMM. By the way, I know that the problem is not that I created the mpeg file with PE. I tried playing an older mpeg file and that did not work.
