Hi, Don't know what I could be doing wrong , but I can't get this program to work. Installed my new Drive, formated it NTCS, didn't touch the jumper pins as instructed by installation manual. The Drive is there, I can put files into it - play them, delete them. But when I try to "clone " my system drive with Acronis (tried auto and manual) the program says "It was "Successful" and "Complete" but when I restart- new Drive is empty. I spent a day trying different things,(even redownloading the Acronis program just in case) I could have just reloaded everything in that time, which I guess I will Sunday unless some kind soul can shed some light on this .................stressful situation. Thanks for any help, Dave

Sorry Dave, not familiar with that particular Acronis product. You might find some answers here though:- http://www.wilderssecurity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=70though having made a (very) quick scan of the forums there appear to be more questions about Migrate Easy than there are answers.

Hi Dave. I use Acronis True Image Home v11.
I know that one or two others on the forum use Acronis products so someone else might chip in with something more helpful concerning Migrate Easy.

Dave, I also use Acronis True Image Home, v10.0, and it is a breeze! I'm not familiar with Migrate Easy, but True Image couldn't be simpler or more effective. I got it after losing $60 and 2 weeks of headaches to Norton Ghost.
One thing to be aware of... some software licensing (Adobe CS3, for one) is very strict and recognizes a cloned drive as an illegal copy; be prepared to have to reactivate some of your software using the original software key, and in some cases you may actually have to call the vendor's Customer Service for a new key. If you have any CS3 programs, you can "Deactivate" them from the Help menu before cloning, then re-"Activate" them after cloning.

This applies to the Adobe CS2 line as well. Don't forget to de-license your iTunes. After sharing with 5 PCs it will lock up. You can only cancel all registrations like once a year. Take it from experience. -Vernon

Thank you all for the info. I use CS3 I think a clean install might be my best solution. I checked the Adobe site but can't find anything specific, does anyone know if I have to de-activate and uninstall before reloading it on my new Hard drive?

Yes. If you don't deactivate it before installing it on the new drive, you could end up having a rather lengthy and frustrating call to Adobe Customer Service to obtain a new activation code.
Adobe does allow each single-user license of CS3 to be installed and activated on 2 computers, as long as only one is in use at any given time. In theory, this is to allow a user to have one at work and one at home so that they can continue working when they leave the office. I have the same license of CS3 on my desktop as well as my laptop, but from what I've heard bad things would happen if I tried to have both running at the same time. If you have only activated your license once so far, you could just install & activate it again on the new drive, but if you wanted to put it on a second computer later you're better off just deactivating it on the old drive to preserve your ability to use the second activation.
