Simple Question!Mainly 'cause I'm simple I'm hip to 1920x1080, but when I see a streamer that is 1920 but has a black border top and bottom my mind wonders why. Like was it shot with a weird camera or what. Your answer will probably embarrass me, but info appreciated.

Re: Simple Question! The letterboxing effect is a desire to make the video look like it is anamorphic which has a 1.33 ratio. Some fake it and just add the letterboxing effect.

Re: Simple Question! Is that the CinemaScope picture ratio we see on TV where there are black borders on top and bottom?
Re: Simple Question!CinemaScope is an anamorphic lens series used, from 1953 to 1967, and less often later, for shooting widescreen movies that, crucially, could be screened in theatres using existing equipment, albeit with a lens adapter. I think the modern day version being used called Panavision but the same anamorphic principal.
