Read Error on HDD

Postby John 'twosheds' McDonald » Wed Feb 07, 2018 6:09 am

Plenty of stuff on Google for read errors on bootrec but my read error isn't anything to do with booting.

I am trying to migrate the contents of a dying HDD to a new PC for a friend but I keep getting this error. The Surface Test in Partition Wizard confirms that a block has a read error. I have tried chkdsk with /f /r parameters but the error persists. ](*,) :pull:

So it is either going to be a loss of some data or one of you knows a remedy. [-o<

I have my fingers crossed!! :-D

Hi John,

Do you have the MiniTool Partition Wizard? The Professional paid version? That has saved many files for me over the years even when I thought they were lost forever.

Having tried all sorts of things I finally had to admit defeat, Chuck. Ended upwith having to do a tedious re-install. :(
