Re: Win7 still #1 worldwideFWIW, remember that most common doesn't necessarily mean the most popular or the best.
After all, McDonald's hamburgers are still the #1 most sold hamburger in the world. HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro

I completely agree that most popular does not prove best quality. Question: You've said you like Chrome. Do you use Norton Identity Safe with it? Re: Win7 still #1 worldwideMarket share... It depends which market. There are two major drags for global market share. Firstly business (who are unlikely to change OS within a year) and secondly the far east where there is a large amount of piracy - this probably accounts for the 10% usage of windows XP. Does that correlate with your expereince - one in ten people you know are using windows XP on their computer? Here's a couple of other data sets.
The steam hardware survey shows Windows 10 usage passed 7 a couple of months ago. Steam's demographic is gamers who are home users and technology adopters (with the occasional holdout who claims it runs better on XP). Second is the US government analytics website (https://analytics.usa.gov/) who provide usage data. This graph show the percentage usage of the top OS versions that are used to accesss .gov websites. (The ones claiming to be running windows before XP - including 3.1 (!) - are skipped) You can see the daily variation where weekdays are dominated with windows 7 at around 61%. However weekends which are more likely to be home users show windows 10 just edging out windows 7 in the past week or two - and it's rising.
