Recover files on a SD card

Postby GerryB » Sat Jan 16, 2016 6:17 pm

Greetings,

Does anyone have any suggestions as to safe software to try and recover .mts files on a SD card. There are 90 minutes of a rugby match and I got very cold this afternoon!!!

My PC crashed this evening and I appear to have lost all the files on the card, I was transferring them to the PC at the time.

I tried a few things as recommended (on the web) on both the PC and the MAC to no avail.

I put the card back in the camera and it could not read the files or play them.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Gerry

I've used Recuva with reasonable success. http://www.piriform.com/recuva They have a free version.

Don't use the SD card for anything until you look at it with your recovery software. And, restore any files to a different drive to avoid overwriting sectors making recovery impossible. No recovery software can be 100%. Hopefully the card won't be too damaged.

Use this download page: https://www.piriform.com/recuva/download

Documentation is here: http://www.piriform.com/docs/recuva

If the program doesn't start in the recovery wizard, you can click the options button and start it from there.

Good recommendation Bob. I used Recuva recently to save some files from my daughter's hard drive, works well.
